Because all citizens must have equal representation in government, all elective offices must reconsider their boundaries after the national census, which is conducted every 10 years. Given the results of 2010 U.S. Census, every Delaware Representative District (RD) must now contain between 20,805 and 22,995 residents. Passed in the closing days of the 2010 legislative session, and quietly signed into law on July 8, 2011, House Substitute 1 for House Bill 210 redraws the state's senatorial and representative districts. The House districts are detailed in the maps below and will be in effect on Election Day 2012. |
