An attempt to deal with a growing customer load at the Division of Motor Vehicle offices, this bill would increase the term of a Delaware driver's license from five to eight years and learner's permit from 60 days to 6 months. Supporters say by making driver's licenses valid for an additional three years, the DMV estimates is can reduce customer volume by approximately 48,000 annually. Status: Passed the House. Pending action in a Senate committee. |
